In the Can Satellite (“CANVAS”), the communication module is responsible for wireless data transmission and reception between the satellite and the ground station.

  • Roles of the Communication Module in CanSat

  1. Real-Time Communication with Ground Station
    Transmits sensor data—such as position, velocity, orientation, and temperature—in real time.
    Also receives commands from the ground station (e.g., image capture, system reset) and executes them onboard.

  2. Assisting Data Logging
    Enables real-time preview or transmission of collected data during flight.
    When used alongside an SD card, it allows for redundant data storage, helping to prevent data loss.

  3. Recovery Location Identification
    Sends GPS coordinates or signal strength data after landing to support post-mission recovery efforts.

  4. Emergency Signal Transmission
    In unexpected scenarios, the module can broadcast distress signals on a designated frequency for emergency response.
